Week commencing 28th April: Unfortunately I have no current capacity for long term work. I have a waiting list for anyone wishing to start regular sessions, or I can refer on to a trusted colleague. I have some limited availability for initial or one-off sessions.
My primary goal in therapy is for clients to feel able to be themselves. It isn't necessary to be an expert in expressing emotions or an extrovert who loves to talk. The counselling relationship is one that adapts to the individual and their preferences.
It is a common misconception that counselling is only for tragic events or times of crisis in our lives. Many clients find great value in having a space to explore their experiences and build a better understanding of themselves in a supportive environment. Good quality of life is important, no matter your stage of life.
I am diagnosed autistic and a lot of my work is focused on working with neurodivergent people. I believe strongly that, although we face challenges, we do not need to be "fixed" in any way. I will help you to embrace your authentic self.
Our intersectional identities mean I also work in a supportive and affirming way with LGBTQIA+ clients and clients living with chronic illness, disabilities and health conditions. I aim to work in a culturally competent way with a broad range of clients.
One of the biggest steps in counselling is the initial decision to seek that support for yourself. I aim to make it as smooth and as clear a process as I can. The important thing to keep in mind is that you, the client, are the expert in your own life and own experience.
The garden room is a completely private and self-contained space. Appointments are timed so that you will not encounter other clients, and you will be welcomed into the space by me.
